The Academy Staff Attends 2-day Workshop in Preparation of the National Project Group Meeting amid July

(Hargeisa, Somaliland, May 11, 2010) The Academy's staff members attended a two-day workshop at Mansoor Hotel on 08 May 2010 in preparation of the National Project Group Meeting (NPGM) to take place mid July.

The NPGM is an annual gathering in which the stakeholders of the Academy's pillars are brought together in order to identify and discuss the challenges faced by the country in its reconstruction efforts.

The objective of this workshop, co-organized and facilitated by Interpeace and the Academy, was to identify the expected results of the NPGM and the respective role to be played by the organization's pillars. The workshop was also used as an opportunity to gauge the progress so far made towards the NPGM.

Furthermore, devising a work plan for the production of NPGM's major documents was another major aim of the workshop.

During the workshop, the Academy's staff discussed the technical and programmatic challenges faced in the Academy's respective pillars. The importance of presentation was fully acknowledged. As such, all of the participants agreed on a number of issues concerning the presentation of NPGM's documents such as the language used in the document, titling of the identified problem, and which problems to focus on as vital to the process of formulating the challenges in each pillar-also called entry points.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the NPGM work-plan was partially revised with the understanding that further efforts are needed in its finalization on the part of the Academy.

Accordingly, another Academy/IP is in the plans for the period immediately following the NPGM as part of efforts to pave the way for subsequent phases of the programme.
