THE ACADEMY'S PROGRAM COORDINATOR HONOURED


(Hargeisa, Somaliland, January 27 2010) Somaliland National Youth Umbrella better known as "SONYO" awarded a certificate of appreciation to Mr. Boobe Yusuf Du'ale, the Academy's Program Coordinator, at a Staff Awards Ceremony held in Mansoor Hotel on January 21, 2010, to honour members of the organisation's staff and founding Board of Directors (BoD) as well as members of its support community.

Mr. Yusuf Du'ale, who was among the few individuals outside the organisation to be given an award, was recognized for his contribution to the umbrella's successful emergence as an important and enduring local organisation as well as for his relentless advocacy and empowerment of the youth of this country-socio-culturally, economically and politically.

Apart from honouring its staff currently working in the organisation, a number of individuals were also awarded for having played a significant role in the establishment of the organisation. These included Mustafe M. Khaire and Saeed Farah Migane, respectively the organisation's former executive director and finance director.

Similarly, Mr. Mohamed Hassan Saed and Dr. Mohamed Yusuf Aw Ali were awarded for their dedication and commitment to the organisation's growth and development both during their tenure as BoD chairpersons as well as for the admirable way in which they handed over the position.

Among other APD staff that attended the ceremony were Mustafe A. Awad, Mohamed Farah, Hanad Sahardiid, Hibo M. Khaire, and Adnan A. Hassan.

The event which was first of its kind in SONYO's history was well-organized and got positive reception from all those attending. Subsequently, SONYO officials speaking at the event asserted that in honouring its staff and support community, similar "SONYO Staff Day" ceremonies will be held on the 21st January of each year.

SONYO is a nationwide youth umbrella established on 5 June 2003, assembling 35 of the most active youth organizations in Somaliland's six regions.
